Synopsis
This is the journey of a peculiar throng of mourners, accompanied by a poet and a group of performers in a semi-urban African town, on their way to bury their dead. It is a poetry film project on African arts and restitution that uses the Benin Punitive Expedition of 1897 as a fulcrum. This aims to spotlight the impact of cultural loss due to colonialism, correct racist narratives, and portray the heritage of Africa as told by Africans.
